Seven persons, including the owner of an eatery were injured and the property vandalised allegedly by irate villagers in the wee hours of the morning after the staff there refused to serve food to a local resident, police said.

The incident occurred when a youth from nearby Gawli Palasiya village came to the hotel at around 12.30 AM and demanded that he be served food, Badgonda police station investigation officer Hemraj Jat told PTI.

However, when the hotel staff refused to serve food, it led to an altercation following which a large number of villagers arrived at the place and allegedly manhandled the staff.

Hotel manager Manoj Malviya was seriously injured in the incident and has been referred to a hospital in Indore.

The owner of the eatery, Sandeep Gupta, filed a complaint following which police registered a case against unidentified persons.

Further investigations are on, police said.
