The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today forecast heavy rainfall across Odisha and issued a thunderstorm warning accompanied by lightening in six districts.
"Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over north Odisha and heavy rainfall likely at one or two places over south Odisha during the next 24 hours," a latest bulletin issued by the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, said.
In a separate warning, the IMD said that thunderstorm with lightning is also likely to occur in the districts of Nayagarh, Cuttack, Balasore, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Angul.

"People in these six districts may be advised to take shelter in nearby building or other safety locations," it said.
Meanwhile, sources in the IMD said that rainfall has occurred at many places over Odisha with heavy rainfall at one or two places over north interior Odisha.
