J&K Governor seeks report on youths' killing

Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today sought a detailed report on the recent death of two youths in separate incidents at Palhallan and Trehgam in the valley.

"The Governor had asked the Jammu and Kashmir DGP, K Rajendra Kumar for a detailed report on the two recent incidents, in which young men lost their lives at Palhallan and Trehgam in Kashmir valley," an official spokesman said.

Vora who had returned from Delhi after attending the Governor's conference, reviewed both the cases with DGP and directed the authority to take stern action against the defaulters and submit a further report.
 

19-year-old Farooq Ahmad Bhat was killed in firing by security forces on February 9 while taking part in a protest on the second anniversary of Afzal Guru's hanging in Palhalan area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district.

Nazir Ahmad Mughal, a 32-year-old suspect, picked up by police in connection with a murder, was found dead on the same day shortly after he reportedly escaped police custody in Kupwara district of north Kashmir.
