The 23rd Jammu and Kashmir Police-Public Mela inaugurated here today witnessed participation from a large number of people from different walks of life.
The day-long event organised by the state police was inaugurated by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at Bakshi stadium.
Omar inspected various stalls installed in the mela and interacted with the stallholders.

The chief minister highlighted the role of Jammu and Kashmir Police in safeguarding the lives of people and maintaining peace and law and order.
Underlining the importance of the mela, Omar said these are aimed at generating resources for the welfare of the families of the state police martyrs.
Top brass of the state police including its Director General, Ashok Prasad were present on the occasion along with their families.
A large number of civilians also visited the mela which has become quite an attraction over the years.
