Press Trust of India New Delhi
Jeera prices fell by 0.85 per cent to Rs 16,270 per quintal in futures trading today as participants reduced their positions, driven by ample stocks position at the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in April declined by Rs 140, or 0.85 per cent, to Rs 16,270 per quintal, with an open interest of 3,138 lots.

On similar lines, the spice for delivery in far-month May traded lower by Rs 135, or 0.81 per cent, to Rs 16,490 per quintal in 14,322 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by traders, triggered by adequate stocks in the physical market on higher supplies from producing regions led to the fall in jeera prices at futures trade.
