Junior Assistant arrested for taking bribe

Vigilance and Anti Corruption Police today arrested a Junior Assitant of the Collectorate here for allegedly taking Rs 15000 as bribe for transferring revolver licence from father's name to son's name.

Police said A Ajis Mehtha of Sivakasil, who was running wax candle business, had applied for transferring the revolver licence which was in his father's name Ashok Mehtha, to his name.

He had applied for the transfer on Jun 19 at the fire arms licence section.

Satheesh, a Junior Assitant in the wing had asked Rs 15000 for transferring the licence.

Ajis Mehta gave a complaint to the vigilance and anti-corruption DSP Venkateswaran yesterday.
 

The junior assistant was caught while receiving the bribe amount.
