DMK president M Karunanidhi today greeted Karnataka Chief Minister-designate Siddaramiah, wishing that he will not only solve problems in that state but also ensure that Tamils living there will "be very safe in your hands".
"I am quite confident that your long experience will enable you to solve the problems of Karnataka state and protect the poor and downtrodden," he said in his greetings to the veteran Congress leader.
Karunanidhi expressed joy over Siddaramiah being elected Leader of the Congress Legislature party and "consequently as Chief Minister" of that state.

"I am also quite sure that the welfare of the Tamils living in Karnataka will be very safe in your hands. I wish you good health and pleasant tenure," Karunanidhi said without elaborating.
A Cauvery stand-off between the two states in 1991 had resulted in anti-Tamil violence there.
Congress romped home in the May 5 polls in Karnataka, securing 121 seats in the 224-member Assembly dethroning BJP.
