Kharif crop procurement started early for farmers: Barala

The procurement of Kharif crop have been started a week earlier in Haryana for the convenience of the farmers, BJP state President Subhash Barala said today.

Barala was here today to inspect the procurement of crops at the New Mandi.

Usually every year Kharif crops procurement starts on October 1 but this year Haryana government asked the Centre for starting it early for the benefit of farmers, Barala said.

On receiving the Centre's approval, the procurement was started, he said, adding that the minimum support price has been fixed at Rs 1,250 per quintal this year.

The problems and issues faced by the farmers and traders at the Mandis are being resolved on priority basis, Barala said.
 

Over the losses to the cotton crops, Barala said the assessment of the losses has been already started but it got delayed to the Panchayat elections.

Now the assessment work is being accelerated for which officials concerned have been instructed too, the BJP state President said.
