Haryana government today said that the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway project, which encircles Delhi on the western side, has been revived to facilitate seamless connectivity between the state and rest of the country.

A "global" corridor has been planned along its 135-km route, which offers new opportunities for development of theme hubs, Haryana Industries Minister Capt Abhimanyu said at an event organised by the US-India Business Council here.

With the completion of this project, traffic would not have to pass through the national capital territory of Delhi.

Besides, several metro rail projects have been undertaken, including extension of Delhi Metro to nearby cities of Haryana, which include Gurgaon, Faridabad and Bahadurgarh, he said.

This would ensure seamless and fast connectivity for Haryana with Delhi. These corridors would also lead to fewer vehicles on roads, decongest both national highways and arterial roads and reduce pollution levels, besides improving the quality of life in NCR.

Other initiatives taken by the government, include upgradation of national and state highways, new inter-city connectivity and intra-city transport, he said.

He said the state government is taking several initiatives to ensure sustainable development in the National Capital Region by improving connectivity, ensuring adequate power and water supply and creating social infrastructure such as schools, hospitals and recreation centres.
