Large quantity of explosives found in Goalpara

A huge quantity of explosives was recovered in Assam's Goalpara district and a person apprehended by Army, a Defence spokesman said today.

Based on intelligence, Army launched an operation at Marnai on Thursday and apprehended a person identified as Hobibur Rehman.

8 kg of explosives and 52 detonators were found in his possession, the spokesman said quoting delayed reports.

The individual was suspected to be a supplier of explosives to various militant groups in the region of Lower Assam.

The recovery on time averted major subversive activities, he said.
