Lead prices drifted down by 3.49 per cent to Rs 139.80 per kg in futures trade today as speculators trimmed bets, taking negative cues from spot market on muted demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in August fell by Rs 5.05, or 3.49 per cent, to Rs 139.80 per kg in a business turnover of 4,097 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in September lost Rs 4.90, or 3.36 per cent, to Rs 141.10 per kg in 218 lots.

Analysts said cutting down of exposure by participants due to fall in demand from consuming industries in the physical market, mainly weighed on lead prices at futures trade.
