The Left Front today requested the Election Commission to seal inter-state borders ahead of the fifth phase polling on Saturday.
"Despite our repeated request for border sealing, including inter-state borders, gaps remained in doing so. There is (also) considerable apprehension that criminals are being brought from other districts in Kolkata, South 24 Parganas and Hooghly," the Left Front said in a letter to state Chief Electoral Officer Sunil Gupta.
It also requested route marches and searches to flush out outsiders.

The Left also complained against Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee saying she has been giving constant threats to EC, central forces and opposition parties in public meetings.
"She has also called upon her party activists to defy central forces. Her public utterances are creating an atmosphere of terror and instigating post-poll violence too," the letter alleged.
