A leopard that had strayed into the high-security naval base 'INS Hansa' near here, was caught by officials of Navy and Goa forest department today.
The big cat was sighted earlier this week at the base which is a home for several flying squadrons, and a trap was laid yesterday.
"The animal was trapped inside the cage during wee hours today...The animal was subsequently handed over to the forest department," a Naval official said.

According to the official, the feline is about 3-year-old and is in good health.
"The presence of these big cats has been a threat not only to the service personnel working and residing at INS Hansa but also to the civil populace residing in and around Dabolim and Bogmalo," a Naval release said today.
In February last year, another leopard was sighted and handed over to the forest department at the same location, it said.
