Life sentence for 9 in student's murder case

A local court today sentenced nine persons to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on each of them in a student's murder case about two years ago.

Additional District and Sessions judge Sanjay Kumar Singh passed the order.

According to the prosecution, the convicted had kidnapped Kumar, a class X student of St. Joseph school, from his native village Jagatpur under Sadar police station area on September 29, 2012 and demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh from his family.

The abductors had later killed the boy and dumped his body in Okhari jungle under Chandramandi police station area in neighbouring Jamui district from where police had recovered a headless body, said to be that of the boy.
 

The victim's father lodged an FIR against nine persons charging them with abduction and murder of his son.
