:A realtor who was on the run for the past 10 days over the alleged assault on a teacher here has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody, taking the total number of those arrested in the case to 36.
Arulanantham was arrested from his friend's house in Tiruchirappalli district late last evening, brought here this morning and produced before a magistrate, who remanded him to judicial custody.
S Baskar, a physical education teacher with a private matriculation school here, was allegedly thrashed by a mob on November 20 following a conspiracy by Arulanantham, the main accused.
The attack followed alleged beating of the realtor's son, a class eight student by Baskar, which was however, denied by the school administration.
Following this, parents and teachers staged protests demanding action against those who allegedly assaulted the PET.
Police Commissioner George visited the school and reviewed the action being taken. As many as 35 persons were arrested and remanded to custody. Police are on the lookout for one more person.
Four luxury cars owned by Arulanantham, which were used by the attackers were also seized,police said.
