Man arrested for attempting to rape minor

A man was arrested for allegedly trying to rape a 16-year-old girl.

Jagdish forcibly took the girl, who is his neighbour, to the nearby fields yesterday where he attempted to rape her, police said today.

Hearing the girl's cry for help, some villagers reached the spot and nabbed the accused who was handed over to the police, they said.

A case has been registered against Jagdish under relevant sections of the IPC on the complaint of the girl's father.
