A man, who allegedly cheated several businessmen in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab, has been arrested, police said today.
The accused was identified as Raheesh Ahmad, a resident of Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh, and arrested on Saturday last from his native place, a senior Crime Branch official said.
"Ahmad, who was head of a gang, used to purchase scrap from metal factories (iron, copper etc) in bulk. He would show samples to the businessmen in the form of powder, containing good percentage of copper and silver and allure them of providing such material or powder in bulk at very nominal cost," the police officer said.

But instead of supplying copper and silver ash, he and his gang members use to supply iron powder to buyers.
"The gang has cheated one Devender to the tune of Rs 15.50 lakh. Ahmed had provided him sample of silver powder, but supplied iron powder in place of silver powder," the officer said, adding Ahmad is being interrogated.
