A man was arrested today for seeking job after producing a fake appointment letter at the office of the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) here.
Police said ARTO Rachna Yaduvanshi detected the fake appointment letter and handed over the man to them.
The letter for the appointment to the post of a clerk at the learning licence section was reportedly signed Regional Transport Officer Sanjay Mathur and addressed to the ARTO.
"The ARTO is directed to join Ankit Saxena as clerk in learning licence department," the letter reads.
The letter raised suspicion and the ARTO contacted the Regional Transport Officer who informed her that he has not issued any such letter.
She then called the police and handed the man to them.
During interrogation, the man told police that he had procured the appointment letter from one agent Sanjay and paid Rs 4 lakh for it.
Police said further investigations were on.
