Man attacked in Kokrajhar

A 55-year-old man was attacked and critically injured by a group of unknown persons today in Assam's Kokrajhar district, official sources said.

Seven unidentified men came on three motorcycles and attacked the victim, Abdus Ali Sheikh, with sharp weapons at Maspara near Titaguri, about five km from Kokrajhar town.

Sheikh was admitted to Kokrajhar Civil Hospital, the sources said.

The cause behind the attack was not immediately known.

However, security was tightened in the area following the incident and a manhunt launched to arrest the attackers.
