Man beaten up by public for trying to sexually abuse minor

A 40-year old man was tonight severely thrashed by the public after he was caught allegedly trying to sexually abuse a minor near Bardhaman Compound in Ranchi city, the police said here.

"The accused was beaten up by the people after he had attempted to sexually assault a 4-and-a-half year old girl," a police officer with the Lalpur police station said.

The accused has been admitted to a hospital, the officer added.
