Man beaten up for protesting gambling

A man was seriously injured after allegedly being attacked by gamblers at Dhupguri in Jalpaiguri district today.

Police said the injured man Dhananjoy Roy named 12 persons in the FIR stating that he was beaten up after protesting gambling activities on his plot of land last midnight.

A search was on and police were probing the matter.

Local people of Magurmari Gram Panchayat area alleged some localities of the area became a den of anti-socials after dark.
