A local court today sentenced a man from Punjab to life for murdering a widow and her two children in 2011.
Special judge of Ambala fast-track court Vimlesh Tanwar also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Balwinder Singh of Kakepur village in Punjab's Patiala district.
According to the prosecution, Balwinder, who was in an illicit relationship with the widow, killed her on August 26 2011 when she was expecting her third child, fearing that it could bring their affair to public notice.
The woman and her two children were found lying in a pool of blood near Ambala Cantt.
Following investigation, police arrested Balwinder and during interrogation he confessed to the crime.
