A 28-year-old man, carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh, was arrested from Madhya Pradesh for allegedly supplying illegal arms to criminals in the national capital and its neighbouring states, officials said Friday.
According to DCP (Special Cell) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, on May 21, 2018, two associates of Israr, identified as Vineet Kumar and Ram Kumar, were arrested with 21 semi-automatic pistols and 42 live cartridges.
During interrogation, both accused disclosed that they have procured the illegal firearms from Israr, he said.
Police received information that Israr was lodged in the Ajmer Jail in a dacoity case. However, when police reached the Ajmer Jail, they got to know that Israr was released on bail.
Later, Israr was arrested from Madhya Pradesh's Bhind district, the DCP said.
Israr told police that he used to purchase arms from Jeet, a resident of Burhanpur in MP, and then used to supply the illegal consignments to his contacts in Delhi, UP and Haryana.
He and his associates -- Vineet and Ram Kumar -- were involved in supply of illegal arms for the last four years, the DCP said, adding that further investigation is underway.
