The maximum temperature today stayed close to the normal levels in most parts of Punjab and Haryana.
Union Territory Chandigarh recorded a maximum temperature of 34.5 degrees Celsius today, a MeT department report said here.
In Haryana, Ambala and Karnal recorded their respective maximums at 35.5 degrees Celsius and 33.4 degrees Celsius. Narnaul's maximum was 34.5 degrees Celsius.

In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a high of 35.6 degrees Celsius, two notches above the normal limits.
Ludhiana and Patiala recorded maximums of 34.6 degrees Celsius and 34.9 degrees Celsius respectively, up to two degrees above the normal.
The MeT has predicted rain or thundershowers at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana over the next two days.
