Medium sugar gains on surging demand

Medium sugar prices continued to gain at Vashi wholesale market here today on heavy demand from stockists and retailers owing to sustained seasonal offtake.

While small sugar held steady in the absence of any large-scale buying.

Medium sugar (M-30) climbed by Rs 4/15 to Rs 3,031/ 3,156 from Thursday's close of Rs 3,016/3,152.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,932/3,035 (Rs 2,932/3,035).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,031/3,156 (Rs 3,016/3,152).
