Mentally challenged person dies in hospital

A mentally challenged person, who was mistaken for a thief and beaten up by locals, today succumbed to his injuries at the government hospital here, police said.

Police said the man was roaming in the Indhira colony area on February 24 when some people thrashed him, suspecting him to be a thief.

Four persons were taken into custody in connection with the incident, police said.
