Methaqualone seized; four arrested

Four persons were arrested today at Airwadi in the district in connection with hoarding a narcotic substance worth Rs one crore in the international market, police said.

The seized substance is said to be methaqualone which has been sent to Madurai for further analysis, police said, adding the four persons planned to smuggle it to foreign countries through Sri Lanka.

The seizure was effected following a raid on a lodge by 'Q' branch personnel of Tamil Nadu police which deals with extremist activities, sources said.
