Migrant labourer dies of asphyxiation

A 40-year-old migrant labourer allegedly died after inhaling poisonous gas that emanated from a halogen lamp kept in his house, police said today.

The deceased identified as Shiv Lal, originally from Jharkhand, but currently residing in Rawalpindi village of Phagwara Block, had lit up the halogen lamp in his room last night and gone to sleep, police said.

He got asphyxiated after inhaling the gas that emitted from the lamp, police said.

Police sent his body to local Civil hospital for post-mortem.
