Actor Mike Epps, best known for playing Day-Day Jones in 'Next Friday', will star as comedian Richard Pryor in his biopic.
Pryor, who was hailed as one of the best stand-up comedians, died of a heart attack in December 2005. He was 65.
TV star Oprah Winfrey, who is rumoured to have been cast in the film to play Pryor's grandmother, posted a picture of herself with Epps and director Lee Daniels on Instagram.
Daniels tweeted the same photo and captioned it, "Get ready you'all- Mike Epps as Richard Pryor." Later Epps, 43, posted a picture of himself with the late funnyman's wife Jennifer Pryor.
"Had to kiss the ring of jennferLpryor for the blessing !you got to be stong to have been with the king!" he wrote.
