MIM releases first list of candidates for AP assembly polls

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) announced its first list of seven candidates for the Andhra Pradesh assembly elections here today.
MIM supremo Asaduddin Owaisi's brother and sitting MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi will contest from Chandrayangutta assembly constituency which is a part of Hyderabad.
Akbaruddin, who was arrested by Andhra Pradesh police for his alleged hate speech last year, was released on bail later.
MIM has dropped two sitting MLAs Virasat Rasool Khan and Muqtada Afsar Khan and introduced Jaffar Hussain Meraj and Kausar Mohiuddin in its first list.
Other names announced for the assembly polls are Ahmed Pasha Quadri from Charminar, Moazam Khan from Bahadurpura, Ahmed Balala from Malakpet, Jaffar Hussain Miraj from Nampally, Kausar Mohiuddin from Karwan and Mumtaz Khan from Yakutpura.
Though it has officially not been announced, Asaduddin is expected to contest from the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency.
MIM also plans to contest some more seats in the city and other districts for which candidates will be announced soon.
