A three-year-old boy, who was abducted from Kirari in outer Delhi and then abandoned, was traced to an orphanage here, police said today.

Police have arrested the accused, an 18-year-old Deepak, who is the cousin of the victim.

On October 28, Rajesh Gupta, a resident of Inder Enclave II, Kirari lodged a missing complaint of his three-year-old son Aman who, he claimed, went missing after 9.30 AM.

A team was constituted and despite efforts by the police, no clues emerged and the boy could not be traced.

Meanwhile, after three days, it emerged that Deepak, an older cousin of the missing child, was also missing.

Simultaneously, efforts were made to trace Deepak and it was learnt that he had gone to Mumbai.

A team of police went to Mumbai and arrested Deepak on November 2.

"During interrogation, Deepak disclosed that he lived in a joint family along with his parents, uncle, and aunt. And due to complaints made by his aunt, his mother used to scold and sometimes even beat him.

"He wanted to teach a lesson to his aunt and thus kidnapped his cousin Aman and abandoned him on a Saharanpur bound train at Old Delhi Railway Station," said a senior police official.

Based on what he said, the team launched an extensive checking at all railway stations and GRP police stations on Saharanpur route.

An information was received that a few days ago two women had left an unidentified child at Ghaziabad Railway Station after which he was sent to an orphanage in Gharaunda.

"The boy at the orphanage turned out to be Aman," the official said, adding that he would be handed over to his parents soon.
