Moderate rain bring respite from cold conditions in Pb, Har

Light to moderate rainfall in Punjab and Haryana continued to bring respite from cold conditions as the minimum temperatures today increased at several parts of the two states.

Chandigarh recorded minimum temperature of 11.2 deg C, six notches above normal, MeT department officials said, adding the city received 7.1 mm rainfall.

Among other places in Haryana, Ambala recorded a low of 10.3 deg C, four notches below normal, and a rainfall of 4 mm.

Hisar and Karnal also recorded above normal minimum temperatures at 7.7 deg C and 10.5 deg C respectively.

Narnaul and Bhiwani recorded their minimums at 8 deg C and 9.6 deg C respectively.
 

In Punjab, Amritsar registered a minimum of 6 deg C, three notches above normal.

Ludhiana and Patiala, which were lashed by rains, recorded respective above normal minimum temperatures of 10 deg C and 10.7 deg C.

Meanwhile, the maximum temperatures have plummeted sharply in the two states and their common capital Chandigarh since yesterday, settling in the range of 14-16 degrees Celsius.
