Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Sitasharan Sharma today admitted a breach of privilege motion against Congress MLA Jitu Patwari for allegedly terming the state BJP government and the Press as "thieves."

Moving the breach of privilege motion, signed by nine other BJP MLAs, Yashpal Singh Sisodia said that Patwari had insulted the media.

During a heated argument on Friday on Congress charges that the government had spent Rs 640 crore on publicity campaigns in the last four years, Legislative Affairs Minister Narottam Mishra had claimed that Rau MLA Patwari had dubbed the media as "thieves".

Home Minister Bhupendra Singh claimed in the House that Patwari had said, "It is a gang of thieves that gives advertisements to thieves (Choron ki mandli hai, choron ko vigyapan dete hain).

He demanded the termination of Patwari's House membership.

Senior Congress member Ramniwas Rawat said that a breach of privilege motion case could not be made out against Patwari as the Speaker himself had got the remark expunged.
