MP registers record power supply of 21.87 cr units on Oct 18

Madhya Pradesh has surpassed its own previous record by supplying 21.87 crore units and 21.79 crore units of electricity on October 18 and 17, respectively to meet the growing demand.

This month only the state had created a record by supplying 20.94 crore units on October 13 and 20.52 crore units on October 12, an official of the Public Relation Department said.

On October 18, the state had meet the demand of 21,87,68,000 units of power while on October 17, it had successfully provided 21,79,21,000 units, he said.

The state's peak hour demand of 9,823 MW was registered on October 17, while on October 18 it was 9,664 MW and the state successfully managed it, the official said.
 

Madhya Pradesh Energy Minister Rajendra Shukla congratulated employees for the achievement, he said.

MP Power Management Company's Managing Director Sanjay Kumar Shukla informed that the demand for power has increased due to the ongoing festivals, rabi season and also because of deficient rainfall.

On October 17, 2014, the peak hour demand was 7,357 MW, which rose to 9,823 MW on October 17 this year.

The power supplied on October 18, 2014, was 16.41 crore units, which stood at 21.87 crore units on October 18, 2015, he added.

The demand has gone up by about 39 per cent in the second week of October as compared to the corresponding period last year.

In view of the rising demand, 45 per cent more power was supplied on October 18, he added.
