MP supplies record electricity to meet growing demand

Madhya Pradesh has created a record by supplying 20.94 crore units of electricity on October 13 and 20.52 crore units on October 12 to meet the growing power demand.

The state's peak hour demand of 9,634 MW was registered on October 13, while on October 12 it was 9,060 MW, an official said today.

Madhya Pradesh Energy Minister Rajendra Shukla congratulated employees for the achievement, he said.

MP Power Management Company's Managing Director Sanjay Kumar Shukla informed that the demand for power has increased due to the ongoing festivals and Rabi seasons as well as deficient rainfall.

On October 13, 2014, the peak hour demand was 7,047 MW, which rose to 9,634 MW on October 13 this year.
 

The power supplied on October 13, 2014, was 14.71 crore units, which rose to 20.94 crore units on October 13, 2015, he added.

The demand has gone up by about 37 per cent in the second week of October, compared to the corresponding period last year.

In view of the rising demand, 42 per cent more power was supplied, he added.
