The family members of 42-year-old doctor, who was found dead with his throat and private parts slit, are not cooperating in the investigation, and they may have known the woman accused of killing him, police said today.

"If Satish Chandra's family members had cooperated with police, we would have arrested the accused woman till now," Kanpur (rural) SP K S Singh told PTI.

"We think Chandra's family knows the woman...They are not being forthright about the whole matter," Singh said, adding that the woman would be arrested soon.

The woman accused of the crime is suspected to have tried to courier the victim's severed private part to his wife.

En route to delivering the package, the courier employee saw blood stains on the package and contacted the police who seized the parcel after seeing its contents.

Police have sent the organ to a forensic laboratory in Lucknow for a DNA test.

Chandra, posted at Amrodha Primary Health Centre in Kanpur Dehat area, was found dead on Sunday at a hotel in Rania area.

His brother has filed an FIR against an unknown doctor, hotel manager Anup Srivastav and three other hotel employees.
