Muzaffarnagar police gun down criminal in encounter

A notorious criminal, carrying a reward of Rs 12,000 on him, was gunned down in an encounter here, police said today.

SSP Anant Dev said Jaan Mohd was killed last night near Khatauli town here. He said Mohd was wanted in more than 12 cases of loot and murder.

Police constable Sohanbir sustained injuries during the encounter and was taken to a hospital.

Police said they recovered a pistol from the criminal and seized his car.
