Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today launched the Centre's three social security schemes at Vijayawada Tumalapalli Kalashetram here.

Speaking on this occasion, Naidu said these schemes were the beginning of a "new chapter" in social welfare.

The schemes -- Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY) -- were simultaneously launched at 115 locations throughout the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the three schemes at a function in Kolkata today.

Naidu said they would be a "boon" to the poor and everybody should enrol in them.

Describing the three schemes as "trident" of social security, Parrikar called on the banks to ensure that they reach the people.

Parrikar also lauded Naidu, saying that he was committed not only to creation of jobs through industrial development but also to socially-oriented services.
