NDRF imparts training to NCC, Home guards to deal with

National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) today completed a three-day training programme for NCC and Home Guard officials on how to act during calmities like earthquake and flood.

The training programme on disaster management for assistant NCC officers (ANOs) and Home Guard officials ended today at the Headquarter of 9th Battalion NDRF at Bihta in Patna district.

The training was conducted on the direction of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) New Delhi, a statement from 9th battalion headquarter said here.

During the training session, lectures and hands on training on various topics on disaster management including Disaster Management Act-2005, Disaster profile of India & Bihar, Medical First Responder, Collapsed Structure Search & Rescue Techniques, Flood Rescue Techniques, Earthquake & safety measures, snake bite management, rope rescue techniques and road safety.
 

Vijay Sinha, Commandant, 9th Battalion NDRF while addressing valedictory ceremony of the training session said that this master training session would be quite fruitful in the direction to make the society disaster resilient.

After getting master training from NDRF, now all participants can educate/train community people and also officials of their organization on disaster management, he said.

For effective disaster risk reduction, community awareness on disaster management is quite essential, Sinha said.

Awareness cum training programme on disaster management is being regularly conducted by at the 9th Battalion NDRF in Bihta.

Till now, about 4.23 lakh people (including students) have been educated / trained on disaster management by the Battalion, the statement added.
