No compromise on Golden Temple beautification: Badal

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today said that the state government would not compromise on anything regarding the beautification of the Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple).

Badal today visited the Golden Temple along with wife and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal.

Asked what would happen to several shops in and around the Golden Temple, Badal said all would be removed and the government would not compromise on anything creating roadblock for the beautification of the Harmandir Sahib.

He said that the glorious historical and religious importance of the shrine would be maintained at all costs.

Badal also directed senior officers of the PWD (B&R) to formulate a comprehensive master plan for the construction of a 8-10 lane service lanes around the Temple to cater to the needs of the pilgrims visiting the shrine.
 

Asking the officers to implement various development projects already commissioned in the city, Badal directed them to initiate the construction of roads at the earliest.
