Normal life was affected in and around the steel city of Jamshedpur, which has experienced the hottest day of the season with mercury soaring above 40 degree Celsius for the last few days.
The road traffic witnessed thin during the day time as people preferred to remain indoor due to the scorching heat condition.
The maximum temperature recorded today was 42 degree Celsius, which was two degree Celsius above normal, while the minimum temperature was 24.4 degree Celsius, Met Office sources said.

Meanwhile, majority of the schools in the steel city have rescheduled their school timing in view of the prevailing heat condition.
