NRML bringing positive changes in Nagaland: John

Nagaland Minister for Rural Development and, C L John has said that the implementation of National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) in the state has been very visible in bringing positive changes in the lives of the poor.

"In the last decade several poverty alleviation programs have been piloted across the country, but various factors and limitations, has limited their impact in the lives of the rural population," the Minister said while speaking at a NRLM programme here yesterday.

Nonetheless, NRLM is presently seen to be steadily implemented across the country, he said and expressed hope that the program will increase household income through sustainable livelihood and improve access to other financial service.
 

Additional Secretary (RL) Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India T Vijay Kumar in his introductory note said that NRLM is a poverty reduction program implemented by the MoRD.

He said that the vision of NRLM is to reduce poverty by enabling the poor households to access gainful self-employment and skilled wage employment opportunities resulting in appreciable improvement in their livelihoods on a sustainable basis through building strong and sustainable grassroots' institutions of the poor.
