Odisha Speaker, minister file nominations

Odisha minister S N Patro and Assembly Speaker Pradeep Kumar Amat were among about 22 candidates who filed their nomination for the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in the state.

S N Patro, Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management and a five-time legislator, filed his papers from Digapahandi Assembly constituency in Ganjam district as a ruling BJD candidate.

Amat filed his nomination as a BJD candidate from Boudh (reserved) Assembly constituency.

Prominent labour leader Sura Jena filed his nomination as a CPI candidate from Ekamra-Bhubaneswar Assembly constituency at the sub-collector's office here.

BJD leader and former minister Sarada Nayak filed his nomination for the prestigious Rourkela constituency.
 

As many as 47 aspirants from different political parties

had filed their nominations in the state till yesterday for the twin polls.
