One person was arrested in connection with the killing of a Tata Steel employee in a running train near Jugsalai makdam here on Monday night, a senior police officer today said.
47-year-old S D Yadav, an employee of locomotive department of the private steel major, was returning after unloading the coal ashes inside the works when unidentified assailants opened fire at him as soon as the train came out of the company premises and was moving slowly on Tata Steel-Adityapur rail route, Senior Superintendent of Police, Amol V Homkar said.
Police had immediately rushed Yadav to Tata Main Hospital but doctors declared him brought dead.

Addressing a press conference here, Homkar said a FIR had been lodged under section 302/34 IPC and 27 Arms act in this regard against the unidentified persons and formed a special police team to investigate the case.
In course of the investigation and raids conducted by the team, Homkar said one Md. Sahjada, a resident of Kapali under adjoining Seraikela-Kharswan district, was caught yesterday with a 9mm loaded pistol from near Parvati Ghat under Bistupur police station.
On interrogation, Sahjada told police that his brother-in-law Afsar Khan along with Md Shakeel, Md Kadir, all residents of Seraikela-Kharswan district, and Md Md Badku, a resident of Musaboni in East Singhbhum district had committed the crime to unlease terror in the Jugsalai area for supremacy.
Homkar said Afsar was an accused in the shoot out incident that had taken place few months ago in a bustee in Adityapur police station area near here.
Police has launched a massive hunt to arrest the four accused, who were at large, Homkar said.
He said the police will discuss with the In-charge of Tata Steel Security Department to make adequate security arrangement to check recurrence of such incident.
