A van driver was charred to death today after his vehicle was hit by a SUV and resultantly caught fire at Indore-Ujjain road near here, police said.
In the collision, the Maruti van driver identified as Ram Prasad, a local, died of burn injuries in the vehicle before he could be pulled out of it at MR 10 lane of Indore-Ujjain road, Banganga Police Station Inspector YS Tomar said.
He said that the SUV, Chavrolet Tavera was going to Ujjain from Indore while the ill-fated van was heading to the airport from MR-10 lane.
The Inspector said that the SUV driver has been arrested adding that the Tavera has been impounded.
Police have registered a case and investigations are on.
