One held in lunch box bomb case

A 40-year-old man, wanted in connection with the planting of a bomb in a bus near here in 2011, has been arrested by the CB-CID police.

Umar Farooq was arrested last evening under the Explosive Substances Act and produced in a court which remanded him to judicial custody till June 21, police said today.

In 2011, a bomb was planted in a lunch box on a state-owned transport corporation bus at Melur. However, no casualty was reported as the explosive was diffused by a bomb squad.

Farooq is the third person to be arrested in this connection. Two other accused had been detained last year.
