One man shot dead; tension prevails in Baghpat village

Tension prevailed in a village in neighbouring Baghpat district today after a man was shot dead by a rival group, police said.

Hanif (50) was with his two sons -- Sajid and Shahnawaz -- when three persons fired at them in Amheda village of the district, police said

While Hanif died on the spot, his two sons managed to save themselves by managing to flee from the spot.

Tension prevailed in the village following the incident as the attackers are believed to be from another community.

A case has been registered and investigations are in progress, police said.
