Opium worth Rs 25 lakh seized, one held

A 25-year-old man allegedly involved in drug trafficking has been arrested with 5-kg of opium worth Rs 25 lakh.

Dinesh Meghwal, a resident of Mandsaur district, Madhya Pradesh was arrested from Palam-Dabri Road, Mahavir Enclave here yesterday by the Crime Branch after it received a tip off that he will come to the spot to deliver a consignment.

"It was learnt that Dinesh who supplies opium in Delhi after receiving it from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh would be coming near Sulabh Toilet, Palam-Dabri Road, Mahavir Enclave to deliver a consignment to one of his contacts.

"Immediately a trap was laid and he was apprehended with 5-kg of opium," said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav.
 

During interrogation, it was revealed that to earn quick and easy money, he started supply of opium. He used to get the drug from Gopal alias Gokul Singh of Mandsaur, police said.
