The Punjab government has
declared September 19 as paid holiday for employees of shops, commercial establishments and factories so that they can exercise their franchise in zila parishads and panchayat samitis polls.
"Punjab Government has declared paid holiday to enable the workmen working in shops, commercial establishments and factories to cast their vote in the general election of Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samitis to be held on September 19," an official spokesperson said.
Elections to zila parishads and panchayat samitis will be held on September 19. The counting of votes will take place on September 22.
