A couple allegedly committed suicide along with their two children by jumping into a water tank in the district, police said today.
Last night, Ruparam (27) and his wife Mangi Devi (24) jumped into a tank located near their house with their daughter, Mohini (2), and one-year-old son, Rageshwari police station in-charge Mularam said.
The family was fished out from the tank by Ruparam's father and other family members who rushed them to a local hospital, where they were declared brought dead, police said.
Ruparam was a labourer and returned home a couple of days ago, police said, adding, the deceased went missing with his family last evening.
"His father and other family members were searching for them and later found their bodies in the tank," he said.
The reason for the extreme step is not clear and the matter is under investigation, he said.
